What Sun, Fog and Ash Do to Paint
Think of paint as sunscreen for your siding. While the film is whole, sun and rain hit the paint instead of the wood. Once it wears thin, the boards dry out, crack and start soaking up water every winter.
Sonoma County gives that sunscreen a real workout. Summer afternoons in Healdsburg and Cloverdale run hot, and the west-facing walls take the brunt of it. Down south, fog pours through the Petaluma Gap most mornings and leaves siding damp until midday, which is how mildew gets started. Then there's fire season, when ash settles on every ledge and sill. Paint that lasts here is planned around all three.

- The surface gets fixed before it gets painted. Loose paint comes off, gaps get caulked, and soft wood gets repaired or pointed out to you.
- A clear written estimate. It lists the surfaces, the prep and the number of coats, so you know what you're paying for.
- A tidy job site. Drop cloths down, plants covered, and everything picked up before we leave each day.
From First Call to Final Coat
- Tell us about the project. Call or fill out the form with what needs painting and which town you're in.
- We come take a look. We measure, check the condition of every surface and talk through colors and sheen.
- You get it in writing. A written estimate with the scope and timing, before anything is scheduled.
- Prep, paint, walk through. We cover what needs covering, handle the prep and the coats, then walk the job with you and fix anything you're not happy with.

Call [TRACKING NUMBER]Painting Homes Across Sonoma County
Our crews work all over the county, and the houses vary as much as the weather does. Downtown Petaluma has blocks of Victorians with detailed trim that takes patient brush work. Santa Rosa has everything from mid-century ranch homes to houses rebuilt after the 2017 Tubbs Fire. Out west, homes in Sebastopol sit under redwoods and oaks, where the shady side of the siding stays damp and grows mildew. Up north in Healdsburg and Cloverdale, long, hot summers fade color faster than most people expect. We plan each job around the house in front of us.
Questions We Hear Often
It comes down to size, condition and how much prep the surfaces need. A two-story house with peeling trim and some wood repair costs more than a single-story ranch with sound paint, even at the same square footage. Height, the number of colors and the amount of trim move the price too. The only accurate number is one based on your house, so we come out, look it over and put a written estimate in your hands at no charge.
Not much. For interior painting, take small items off shelves and walls and set aside anything fragile. We move and cover the rest. For outside work, cut back plants touching the siding if you can, unlock the gates, and make sure we can reach a hose bib. Tell us about pets and sprinkler timers, too, so nothing gets wet or wanders off while the paint is drying.
Usually, yes. Smoke on its own isn't the problem. Ash is. When it lands on wet paint it sticks in the finish and leaves a gritty, speckled surface. On heavy ash days we hold off on exterior painting and wash the walls down before picking back up, while inside work keeps going with the windows shut. If your siding already has a film of old ash on it, we clean that off first, because paint won't bond well over it.
Everything we plan to do, spelled out: which surfaces get painted, the prep for each one, the number of coats, the type of paint and sheen, and a realistic schedule. If we find soft wood or cracked stucco during the walkthrough, we list it separately so you can decide what to fix. And if anything changes once the work starts, we talk it over with you before doing it.
Yes. Commercial painting covers offices, retail spaces, tasting rooms and apartment buildings around the county. We schedule around your business so customers and tenants can keep coming and going, and we work in sections when a building can't be closed off. For rentals between tenants, we can usually get a unit painted and ready to show the next renter in short order.
