Cloverdale is the northernmost city in the county, and on many summer days it's also one of the hottest. The Russian River runs along the east side of town, the hills rise on the west, and between them the sun has plenty of time to work on a house. That heat is the main thing paint has to survive here. Colors fade, wood trim dries and splits, and older paint turns brittle and starts to crack. Downtown, along Cloverdale Boulevard and the streets around it, there are Victorians and older homes from the town's early days. Newer neighborhoods spread out from there, along with ranch properties out on the edges of the valley.

Our crews handle houses and properties all over Cloverdale. For exterior house painting in this heat, timing counts just as much as the product: early starts, shaded walls in the afternoon and products made to hold color under strong sun. We also take on interiors and kitchen cabinets. Pick up the phone or message us using the form below to set a day.
Heat, Old Paint and Older Homes
Heat makes old paint brittle. On older homes downtown, it's common to find paint that has cracked into small squares or lifted along the grain of the wood, especially on the south and west walls. That paint has to be scraped and sanded back to a sound surface, or the new coat will crack with it. Sun-dried wood gets primed with a product that soaks in and stabilizes the surface before the topcoats. Light colors stay cooler and hold up better on sunny walls, while dark colors absorb heat and fade faster, so we'll bring that up while you're choosing. Eaves and the undersides of porch roofs stay shaded and usually hold up better, so more of the effort goes where the sun hits hardest. For houses near the river, we also check the lower siding and trim for moisture damage from the wet season. Down the highway, our Healdsburg page covers similar heat on homes around its plaza.
Newer Neighborhoods and Inside Work
Cloverdale's newer homes are mostly stucco or fiber cement, trimmed in wood or composite. The paint on many of them is reaching the age where the sunny sides look chalky and faded while the shaded sides still look fine. A repaint brings the whole house back to one even color, and it's a chance to switch from the original builder scheme. West-facing garage doors are usually the first thing to look worn, and they're simple to include. Hillside properties can have tall walls and tricky access, and we account for that in the price. Inside, the most common jobs are refreshing tired builder paint, painting over smoke or water stains with the right primer, and updating rooms before a sale. See our interior painting page for the details. Inside or out, you'll know the full scope from the written estimate before any work starts.
